Students typing test questions
What is a good typing speed for students?
A good target is roughly 1 to 2 WPM per year of age for younger students. Middle school students often type 20 to 30 WPM, high school students 30 to 45 WPM, and college students 40 WPM or more.
How can kids learn to type faster?
Start with correct finger placement on the home row, keep sessions short (10 minutes is plenty), and use games to keep it fun. Our typing games are a good break between tests.
Can teachers use this typing test in class?
Yes. There is no sign-up, it runs in any browser, and students can choose the subject and difficulty that matches your lesson.
Does typing speed help with schoolwork?
Yes. Faster, accurate typing means less time spent on the mechanics of writing essays and notes, and more time for thinking, editing and studying.
