A keyboard game to learn touch typing
Key Hunt is a keyboard game for learning touch typing. One key lights up on the on-screen keyboard and you press it as fast as you can, without looking down at your hands. A hint under each key shows which finger to use, so you learn the right finger for every key from the start.
It follows the order touch typing is usually taught. You begin on the home row keys (A S D F and J K L ;), then unlock the full home row, the top row, the bottom row and finally the number row as your correct keys add up. Because it uses single keys rather than words, it is ideal for complete beginners and for kids learning the keyboard.
How Key Hunt scoring works
Points per key
Every correct key scores 10 points, plus up to 15 more for pressing it within one second.
Streak multiplier
Every 8 correct keys in a row raise the multiplier, up to x4. A wrong key resets it.
Unlocking rows
New rows unlock at 10, 22, 38 and 56 correct keys, up to the full keyboard including numbers, all within the 45 second round.
Tips for a higher Key Hunt score
Rest on the home row
Keep your fingers on A S D F and J K L ; between keys, and feel for the bumps on F and J instead of looking down.
Follow the finger hint
Use the finger shown under each key, even when another finger feels faster at first.
Accuracy over reflexes
A wrong key resets your multiplier, so a correct press a moment later scores more than a fast miss.
Move on to words
Once the keys feel automatic, practice real words in the home row typing test.

How does Key Hunt help with touch typing?
Pressing one key at a time without looking builds a mental map of the keyboard. The finger hint under each key teaches the correct finger for every key.
What is a good reaction time?
Under 700 ms on average is solid, and under 500 ms means you are finding keys by feel. Accuracy matters more: a wrong key resets your multiplier.
How long is a round of Key Hunt?
45 seconds. Your results show the keys you hit, your average reaction time, your accuracy and your best streak.
Is Key Hunt good for kids learning to type?
Yes. It uses single keys instead of words, shows which finger to use, and starts with only the home row, so it is a gentle first keyboard game for kids.
