A typing race game against your target speed
Ghost Race is a typing race game. You race a ghost car through a short passage of text, and the ghost types at exactly the speed you choose: 30, 45, 60, 80 or 100 WPM. You can also race Your best, which sets the ghost to your fastest finished race so far.
Racing a steady pace is one of the most effective ways to raise your typing speed. Set the ghost 5 to 10 WPM above your usual typing speed test score and try to keep up. The lead counter shows how many characters ahead or behind you are, so you can feel exactly when you start falling behind. Passages are real English sentences, with harder text at the faster ghost speeds.
How Ghost Race scoring works
Your speed
Your WPM counts only correctly typed characters. A mistake stops your car until you fix it with Backspace.
Race score
Your score is your WPM times your accuracy, times 10. A 60 WPM race at 95% accuracy scores 570 points.
Winning bonus
Beat the ghost to the finish and you earn 5 bonus points per ghost WPM, so a win against 80 WPM adds 400 points.

Pick the right pace
Choose a ghost you can only just beat. Winning every race easily will not push your speed up.
Fix mistakes immediately
Your car stops at the first wrong character, so fix typos straight away instead of typing on.
Watch the lead counter
When the lead turns red you are behind. Settle into a steady rhythm rather than bursting to catch up.
Chase your record
Once you win at a fixed pace, switch to Your best and keep racing your personal record.
