How to play Word Scramble
Read the clue
Every puzzle shows a category, such as Animal, Food or Travel, and a row of shuffled letter tiles.
Type the answer
Type the word in the right order. Each letter you type uses up one tile, and only letters on the tiles can be typed.
Beat the clock
You start with 90 seconds and each solved word adds 3 more. Stuck? Press Enter for a hint, Space to shuffle the tiles, or Tab to skip for 5 seconds.
A word scramble game that doubles as typing practice
Word scrambles are one of the oldest word puzzles around, and the moment a jumble of letters suddenly turns into a word never stops being satisfying. This version adds a keyboard to the puzzle. You do not drag tiles around; you type the answer, so every puzzle you solve is also a few seconds of spelling and typing practice.
That mix makes it a good fit for students working on spelling, adults who want a quick brain teaser that keeps their typing sharp, and anyone who finds pure speed drills a little dull. Solving quickly depends on how fast you think, but also on how fast you can get the word out once you see it, and that second part gets better every time you play.
Puzzles start with four and five letter words and climb to eight, nine and ten letters as you solve more. Words were picked so each jumble has one sensible answer, and if you do find a different real word with exactly the same letters, it still counts.

The category tells you what kind of word to look for, which is often all you need once the letters start to make sense.

How the words get longer

How Word Scramble scoring works
Letter points
A solved word scores 25 points per letter, so a seven letter word is worth 175 points before any bonus.
Streak bonus
Every three words solved in a row raise your multiplier by 0.5, up to x3. A wrong answer or a skip resets it.
Quick solve
Solve a word within four seconds of seeing it and you get 50 bonus points on top.
Hints
Each hint fills in the next letter of the answer and divides the word's points: one hint halves them, two hints leave a third.
Time
Each solve adds 3 seconds, up to a maximum of 99. Each skip takes 5 seconds away, so skip early rather than after a long stare.
Tips for unscrambling faster
Look for common endings
Many answers end in -er, -ing, -le or -y. Spot those letters first and the rest of the word often falls into place.
Use the category
A clue like Food narrows things a lot. Think of foods with that many letters before you look at the order.
Shuffle freely
Shuffling is free. A new arrangement of the same letters often makes the word jump out.
Find the vowels
Put the vowels between the consonants in your head. Most words alternate between the two more than you would expect.
Try an answer
A wrong guess only breaks your streak. If you have a hunch, type it; you may be right.
Skip early
If nothing comes to you in ten seconds, skip. Five seconds lost is better than twenty spent staring.

How do you play Word Scramble?
Look at the shuffled letters and the category clue, then type the word they spell. Each letter you type uses a tile. When every tile is used, the game checks your answer.
Is this word scramble game good for kids?
Yes. The first words are short and common, the categories are helpful clues, and the Shuffle and Hint buttons help younger players when they get stuck. It is good practice for spelling and typing at the same time.
What if my answer is a different real word?
If you type a real English word that uses exactly the same letters, it is accepted. Puzzles were chosen to avoid this, but the game allows it just in case.
Does shuffling the tiles cost anything?
No. Press Space or the Shuffle button as often as you like. Seeing the letters in a new order often makes the word obvious.
Will Word Scramble improve my typing speed?
It improves spelling and how quickly you turn a word in your head into keystrokes. For raw speed, pair it with a timed game such as Word Rush or a full typing speed test.
